A Sense of Exploration ...

Journeys

This page provides an overview of all the activities in the program, also offering direct access through a single portal. You may wish to browse through the links to get a feel for the activities and the environmental education lessons paired with them. Having done so, this is where you will head when you want to plan specific outings, excursions or adventures.

You may note some duplication between links: a reserve could be listed on
its own and as part of a hike, or a state park is listed as part of both a ramble
and kayak trip. Simply put, you can visit a place like El Capitan State Park and hike, kayak or cycle on that outing, or you may go there at different times for
each of those trails. The activities are listed with both approaches in mind.

Before You Go ...

Please note ...

Before you start the program, take time to read some of the background information on subjects such as biodiversity, environmental history and conservation. Keeping in mind that this is a cohesive unit and not just a list
of trails, this will provide context for the activities. Having done so, visit this section for the trail facts, download your Environmental Education Guidebook
from the Education page, and get out there!

Please note the following external links: 1. Geocaching - we could have bogged you down with a ton of text, but would rather point you to the Geocache website.
If you have a GPS unit, take time to open an account and download waypoints for each outing. 2. Snorkelling - we mention this as an opportunity with a few kayak and intertidal trips. Research what you need at this site, practice in a pool, take safety precautions and then introduce this wonderful aspect.
